PROTTYASHI Information

PROTTYASHI is a national non-governmental development organization founded in 1983 by visionary leader Mrs. Monowara Begum in Akubdondi, Chattogram. Starting with a small family planning project, it has grown into a nationally reputed organization known for its grassroots presence and rights-based development approach. Guided by its vision of a just, equitable, and secure society, and its mission to end poverty, injustice, and inequality through inclusive and sustainable development, PROTTYASHI now operates across Bangladesh with wide programmatic and institutional reach. The organization works on humanitarian response, health and nutrition, education, gender equality, youth empowerment, WASH, sustainable livelihoods, safe migration, labor rights, climate change adaptation, protection, and human rights. In response to the Rohingya crisis, PROTTYASHI was one of the first responders in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasanchar, providing WASH, protection, education, mental health, skills training, and livelihoods. It also leads climate-resilient development in vulnerable coastal and riverine zones, with targeted action on climate-induced displacement, food insecurity, and women’s leadership. With its head office in Chattogram and a network of around 150 field and project offices across Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna Divisions, PROTTYASHI implements both humanitarian and development programs through a decentralized system supported by over 2,000 staff members. Its institutional structure includes a skilled leadership team, thematic experts, strong financial and administrative systems, and a dedicated monitoring and evaluation unit. PROTTYASHI has implemented over 100 projects partnering with UNHCR, IOM, UN Women, IRC, WJR, Save the Children, World Vision, BRAC, CARE, Helvetas, GIZ, PKSF, World Bank, and USAID. PROTTYASHI welcomes collaboration, partnerships, and consortia to co-create sustainable solutions for inclusive development and community resilience across Bangladesh.
