Project Riandu Information

The project is a big one. To build a secondary school for 200 deaf children in Riandu Kenya. There are many different elements and responsibilities. We are sharing the work between the supporters here in the UK and those who had the initiative in kenya. We are making this project happen together sharing in organising, building and fundraising between the supporters in the two countries. The need for a school is great. It will be an important improvement upon the current system in which many deaf teenagers miss out on a secondary education. There are 71 primary schools for the deaf in Kenya, but only 5 secondary schools, none of which are in the eastern area of the country. Mbeere already has a primary school for the deaf but no secondary provision. Schools are funded by the government once established.
