Founded in New York City, Phu Hoang Office is an award-winning architecture practice dedicated to the creation of intelligent and contemporary design. Our design process begins by exploring the interplay between the activities that occur in a building and the environments in which these activities occur—both natural and artificial. Our approach is to transform practical constraints such as program relationships, climate conditions and zoning requirements into opportunities for novel design solutions. Our design philosophy includes pursuing a range of project sizes—as small as one thousand square feet interior renovations to as large as one million square feet research initiatives. Each project size requires a design strategy tailored to the “local” requirements of that particular scale while also responding to the “global” scale of environments. Current projects similarly encompass a wide range of scales— ranging from a five thousand square feet penthouse renovation, a twenty-five thousand square feet outdoor art pavilion, and a research initiative for urban food production systems. Phu Hoang Office has received awards and competition prizes both nationally and internationally. Our work has been published in books and magazines from the UK to Australia and from Dubai to China.
