Pathware. is a medical device company working to integrate machine learning and microfluidics into current medical workflows to expedite procedures and enhance clinical decision making. Our mission is simple: save time for hospitals, clinicians, and patients. Time is the single most valuable resource in the hospital setting. With additional constraints on physician’s time and an ever-expanding population of patients, this time becomes more limited daily. We are working tirelessly to introduce novel technologies into established workflows to bring the solutions that clinicians need. Our immediate goal is to eliminate the need to repeat a biopsy to diagnose cancer. Every time that a patient comes in for this procedure, there is a 1 in 5 chance that the needle will miss its target or not collect enough tissue. This leads to thousands of patients experiencing the stress of having to undergo the procedure again or worse: receiving a misdiagnosis. This adds unnecessary stress on the patient, excess work for the clinician, and ultimately costs hospitals upwards of $500,000 every year. We find this unacceptable. We are working alongside physicians from multiple internationally recognized institutions to develop a device that would enable the doctor to know exactly what is in the needle within seconds to guide clinical decision making at the point of care. Timing is critical when it comes to the introduction of a medical device into the marketplace. We believe with the recent advancements in digital pathology and artificial intelligence, we are the right company, with the right team, at the right time to be an agent of change in the medical sector.
