Each year, more than EUR 1 bio is spent on birthday parties, company parties, bachelor parties and the likes in Denmark alone with its population of just 5.5mio. On a European level, the amount easily surpasses EUR 100 bio. Despite this, the market is mostly populated with very small suppliers and an accessibility to products and services at a very low level. 15 years ago, a similar pattern would be found in the Hotel and Travel industry, with individual hotels often having individual online presence and booking functionality. However, a significant shift in this market has been seen – and today booking portals such as Hotels.com and Booking.com dominates the market, with Booking.com driving 47% of European Online Travel Agency (OTA) bookings, according to 2013 Morgan Stanley survey of the industry. Partybox is the first portal to bridge the gap within the Event and Party-supplier industry and effectively offer Booking.com service for this segment. The Partybox portal aggregates products and services from a vast network of suppliers, making these easily available for customers to choose from. Partybox also offers a targeted planning tool. This tool not only allows a customer to create the optimum itinerary for a party, but also allows a group of people to cooperate on this task. Comparing again with the Hotel booking industry, direct contact between customer and hotel prior to booking is not as common today as it was 15 years ago. We expect to facilitate a similar shift in the Event industry.
