Participedia Information

Participedia is an incorporated Canadian nonprofit and one of the world’s largest research networks and open-access databases focused on democratic innovation and public participation. We connect researchers, practitioners, organizations, and communities across regions and contexts to research, document, co-design, and share democratic innovations - from participatory governance, civic technologies, and deliberation to community organizing, civic education, and new forms of collective self-governance. Our work brings research and practice together through collaborative research, knowledge mobilization, public engagement, and experiential learning. Through initiatives such as Participedia Schools, research clusters, conferences, teaching and learning programs, podcasts, and practitioner partnerships, we create spaces where people can learn from one another, develop new approaches, and strengthen democratic practice. Our open-access database and global community make knowledge about democratic innovation more visible, accessible, and connected. We work with organizations and communities to understand democratic processes in their own contexts, share what works and what can be learned, and support the development of more inclusive, participatory, and locally grounded democratic futures.
