Palm Beach County Housing Authority was created under Florida Statute in 1969 to provide affordable housing stock to low-income families through rental assistance programs (Section 8 Program, Affordable Housing Apartment Units, and Public Housing). The Agency is formed as a Special District of the State of Florida and presents an integral role in affordable supportive housing initiatives on a countywide platform. Palm Beach County Housing Authority is the property owner and landlord for six (6) developments (Drexel House, Dyson Circle, Marshall Heights, Schall Landing, and Seminole Manor), 51 single-family homes throughout Palm Beach County, having an inventory of 495 low rent units, 148 affordable non-subsidized apartments, and 2,595 Section 8 vouchers. Since its first Section 8 certificate, for the past 34 years, Palm Beach County Housing Authority is and has been responsible for all of the accompanying responsibilities of administration, maintenance, and management of its Section 8 Program, Affordable Housing Apartment Units, and Public Housing. In the recent 10 years, Palm Beach County Housing Authority and the Department of Children and Families Circuit 15 has prioritized its resources to "Preventing and Ending Homelessness" for children, youth, and families in Palm Beach County through the Housing Choice Vouchers Program and Family Unification Program. As of this date,Palm Beach County Housing Authority and the Department of Children and Families Circuit 15 are successfully housing 276 Family Unification Vouchers to eligible youth who are single parents, between the ages 18 to 21 years old who left foster care at the age of 16 or older, and families for whom the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the imminent placement of a family's child in out-of-home care, or in the delay of reuniting a child who is in out-of-home care with the family; and families for whom the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the separation, or threat of imminent separation of children from their families ...
