Pacific Labour Facility Information

The Pacific Labour Facility supports the administration of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, which is the Australian Government's new integrated approach to the Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP) and the Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS). The PALM scheme allows approved employers in rural and regional Australia to recruit workers from 9 Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste when there are not enough local workers available. The PALM scheme focuses on sectors with ongoing labour shortages and projected employment growth in Australia, is employer-sponsored, requires labour market testing to ensure Australians have priority for local jobs and has systems in place to protect the welfare and wellbeing of PALM scheme workers.
