At United Utilities, we supply 1.8 billion litres of clean water to 8 million people across the North West, supporting around 3 million households and 200,000 businesses every day. We also take away and treat wastewater, helping to protect public health, support communities and care for the environment we all share. But our role goes beyond the services we provide. From 184 reservoirs and 57,000 hectares of catchment land to 575 wastewater treatment works and more than 42,000 km of water pipes, we're responsible for infrastructure that stretches from Cumbria to Cheshire and supports millions of people every day. As our region faces some of its biggest challenges, from population growth to increasingly extreme weather, we're helping build a water system that's ready for the future. That's why we're investing more than £13 billion over the next five years, the biggest investment in our network for more than a century. This includes our Big North West Upgrade, one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes, helping to modernise the network that millions of people rely on every day. We deliver essential and sustainable water services for the benefit of the community. We put customers front of mind and contribute to liveable cities. We provide drinking water, recycled water, wastewater services and some stormwater services to more than four million people in Sydney, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. Drinking water is sourced from a network of dams managed by Water NSW, then treated and delivered to customers' homes and businesses by Sydney Water. We are Australia's largest water utility with over 3,200 staff and an area of operations covering 12,700 square kilometres. We, a statutory State owned corporation wholly owned by the New South Wales Government, have three equal, principal objectives: - to protect public health - to protect the environment - to be a successful business.
