As a local teacher for years, I was startled by how few of my students had experienced the amazing opportunities for outdoor recreation in our area. Inspired to change that, AO is committed to providing scholarships to low-income and culturally diverse youth to get out and explore the local outdoors. In addition, as an LNT Master Educator, we are committed to the principles of Leave No Trace, environmentalism and conservation. To this end, we conduct service projects in the areas where we operate. OUR TEAM

Pirhuk provides full support for expedition teams training in Greenland including logistics and guiding. Within our guiding team, we have worked for many years at high latitude, as well as visiting both Poles and making many crossings of the Inland Ice. Our balanced and innovative training has successfully prepared teams that have gone on to reach both extremes of the Earth as well as complete numerous crossings of the Icecap. We strongly believe that the key to effective training is learning and developing the skills in context, as opposed to 'playing' when results don't matter (in this context, working in one small area). On this course, we aim to undertake a significant multi-week journey, introducing skills as we go and then refining them day-on-day. A second benefit is that we will be gaining access to a rarely seen and extremely wild region of East Greenland.
