About Us: The Ottawa Power Wheelchair Hockey League (OPWHL) is a dynamic floor hockey league founded in 2009 to provide a high-quality, organized, and inclusive recreational program for individuals with physical disabilities. All of our players use power wheelchairs and have limited or no upper body mobility—yet they play hockey competitively, showcasing remarkable determination, skill, and teamwork. The league welcomes players with a range of disabilities, with the majority living with Cerebral Palsy or Muscular Dystrophy. Through sport, our athletes experience not only the thrill of competition but also meaningful social connection, community support, and personal empowerment. The OPWHL is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency, and an affiliate of the Canadian Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association (CEWHA). Mission Statement: To provide individuals who use electric wheelchairs for daily mobility with an opportunity to engage in a recreational environment that fosters teamwork, builds self-esteem, and encourages a passion for competition.
