Nova FM took to the airwaves on 7th January 2012. Serving a population of approx 15,000 people, Nova FM broadcasts 24 hours a day on 97.5FM and on the Internet from studios in the High Street. The station provides a community radio service designed to inform and entertain the local community through combining a diverse mix of music, local news, sports and information about local community events, services and good causes. Staffed entirely by volunteers, Nova FM aims to interact with the community of Newport and surrounding areas and give local people the chance to voice their opinions and have their say on local issues affecting them as well as others of the community. Our aim is to foster closer interaction and to promote ‘Social-Cohesion’ across all members of the community.
