Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (Noigroup) is a leading education provider, active health resource network and publishing house headquartered in Adelaide, Australia. With a focus on pain science, our globally recognised faculty delivers cutting-edge education to multidisciplinary audiences on all continents. Our mission is to disseminate health knowledge worldwide, challenging misconceptions about pain and emphasising the biopsychosocial approach. We address chronic pain and stress, impacting 20% of the global population, with evidence-based strategies, emphasising the need for therapeutic education. Despite challenges in prevailing biomedical approaches, Noigroup remains committed to tackling the epidemic of chronic pain and stress through innovative education and clinical research. There are currently five critical conceptual change issues that underpin our commitment to ‘knowledge driving health’ worldwide: 1. Injury or disease does not mean that you feel pain 2. The nervous system moves and stretches as we move 3. Pain, stress and performance are outputs of the brain 4. Knowledge and movement are the greatest pain and stress liberators 5. Nervous system plasticity gives new hope and technique The Noigroup education system covers acute and chronic musculoskeletal, central and peripheral, and neuropathic pain states with the key focuses: • The biopsychosocial approach – the merging of the biology of human pain, stress and performance with the psychological and social environment . • Strong clinical reasoning strategies. • Neuroplasticity, particularly how the brain represents our body, in the assessment and management of the physical aspects of the nervous system and brain sciences. • The nervous system as a remarkable, mobile, complex, plastic and changeable organ, which can impact both acute and chronic injuries and disease.
