We are the charity that cares for hundreds of historic sites in every corner of England. We believe heritage is everyone’s. Through our work, millions of people will come closer together through their shared enjoyment and value for England’s heritage.
The enthusiasm and skills of our colleagues and volunteers make English Heritage a special place to work both at our sites and behind the scenes. We are always looking for talented and motivated people from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds to join us.

Open to the public since 1952, Castle Howard is a diverse working rural estate and visitor attraction just outside York. Built over 300 years ago for the Howard family it remains a family home and today is also an award winning Yorkshire visitor attraction welcoming almost 250,000 people a year to the house and gardens. A changing programme of events, two gift shops, a farm shop, garden centre and four cafés make up the visitor attraction.
