Namequoit Sailing Association (NSA) was started in 1950 by a handful of sailors on and around Little Pleasant Bay, who had an interest in racing small sailboats. Their mission was "to develop an interest in sailing and to promote a knowledge of safety on the water". The following year the Junior Sailing Program, a sailing school for kids, was started so that their children could learn to sail. Its mission is to "instill the joy of sailing and to teach sailing and racing skills". NSA has continued to teach sailing and offer a weekend racing series for 66 years.
