Little Sun is a social business and impact business focussed non-profit, established in 2012 to deliver affordable clean energy across the world.
Since 2019 we are working in Zambia to deliver solar energy for productivity to individuals, families, small business, and smallholder farmers. Beginning with a PAYG business in Mumbwa, the team working out of the HQ in Lusaka has focussed on delivering solar power for productive use since 2023 in Chibobmo Province.
We are excited to focus on the Little Sun Community Energy Hubs moving forward, aiming to provide agricultural productivity services and market access to farmers.
Hub 1, Shimukuni Community Energy Hub, is running since April 2024. We are aiming to open additional hubs in 2024-2025, working closely with the community, the regional government, national offtakers, and most importantly the farmers.
Since 2012, Little Sun has distributed over 1.6 million personal solar devices worldwide to individuals, familie, students, refugees, teachers, and community health workers in areas without electricity.
With these units, Little Sun users have generated light for 205 million additional study hours for children, reduced 1,200,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions and stimulated $200 million in household-level savings by substituting kerosene with clean energy.
Powered by a strong team and great partnerships since 2012.
