Morris County Park Commission Largest county system in New Jersey based on acreage Steward to 18,000+ ac. of parkland 38 facilities: historic sites, golf courses, educational and recreational facilities, arboreta, conservation areas, 150 mi. of trails, ice skating arena 3.5 million+ visits/yr Award-winning programs, events, & activities for all ages Staff: 220 FT, 335 seasonal and PT employees Hundreds of volunteers contribute 15,000+ hours/yr. Established in 1956 by voter referendum Lewis Morris County Park in Morris Twp - first park dedicated in 3/1958 with 350 ac. Second park acquisition - 75 acres now known as James Andrews Memorial Park in Randolph. There are 9 volunteer Park Commissioners serving 5-year terms selected by the Board of Chosen Freeholders. Each Commissioner serves on several committees to oversee activities. The Commission has public meetings monthly, except for August. Commissioners Julie C.
