Moonbot Studios was a multi-platform storytelling studio specializing in animation, publishing and mobile app development. Founded by filmmakers William Joyce, Brandon Oldenburg and Lampton Enochs, Moonbot employed a select group of animators, digital artists, programmers and developers who produced award-winning films, books and digital media. After Louisiana’s tax credits dried up Moonbot considered an acquisition by Magic Leap. Moonbot chose not to sell. The studio’s magnum opus, Lost Ollie, had recently been picked up by Netflix. Moonbot’s creative leadership formed a new studio with Reel FX called Flight School which has since spun out an immersive experience company, The Department of Wonder. The other Moonbot staff found employment with Magic Leap. Now 5 years after Moonbot closed, Lost Ollie releases on Netflix August 24th, The Department of Wonder opens October 1st and Flight School is now in production of their 4th original video game. Moonbot may no longer be a physical studio with a collective of amazing talent under it’s roof. However, Moonbot’s creative spirit lives on inside the hearts of its former krewe members and the countless fans who found inspiration in their stories.
