Montessori educators provide an unconventional and specialized approach to developing the minds of children through their own natural curiosity. The more than 100-year-old pedagogy was designed by Maria Montessori, the first woman in Italy to become a physician. Those teachers who become Montessori teachers know that children are naturally curious and capable of molding their own educational path. These teachers provide the children with structured choices and freedom to explored through their innate curiosity. They foster knowledge in their students by having them discover it, not merely providing the information. Montessori Global Growth Fund funds Montessori initiatives around the world, funding school capacity building, acquiring Montessori materials, or training teachers. Our work is focused on helping those in under resourced communities, whether in rural South Africa, parts of war torn Middle East or rural or inner cities in the US.
