Our story begins in 1895, when the Sunset Telephone Company connected Merced to Mariposa, establishing the Mariposa Telephone Exchange. This marked the foundation of what would eventually become The Mariposa County Telephone Company, Inc. In 1908, the Raymond Telephone Company was founded, and in 1953, it was renamed Sierra Telephone Company, Inc. The pivotal moment came in 1984, when the two companies merged, with Sierra Telephone Company, Inc. becoming the cornerstone of Sierra Tel, a family-owned business that continues to thrive. Sierra Tel takes great pride in delivering reliable, high-quality services with exceptional customer support. We leverage fiber optic technology and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure the fastest and most dependable communication systems. Our fiber networks are engineered for resilience, with route-diverse, fault-tolerant fiber rings that safeguard against service disruptions caused by natural disasters, equipment failures, or damaged infrastructure. Rooted in our rural heritage, Sierra Tel is committed to remaining at the forefront of technology, always working to better serve our mountain communities.
