Modernciné was dedicated to making elevated director driven genre feature films that were edgy and groundbreaking. Over the years, Modernciné gained a solid reputation as a playground for filmmakers willing to tackle the most controversial subjects, attracting the talents of cutting edge filmmakers Lucky McKee, Christopher Sivertson and Gregory M. Wilson. The company also launched the directorial careers of Christopher Denham (Home Movie), the McManus Bros.(Funeral Kings), Chad Crawford Kinkle (Jug Face) and David Guglielmo & Nick Chakwin (No Way To Live). Andrew van den Houten Founder and former CEO, van den Houten developed, financed and produced a dozen feature length motion pictures through the company. Among the films, cult classic Jack Ketchum's "The Girl Next Door," Sundance shocker "The Woman," the Chiller Network Presentation of "Ghoul," and the Toronto Midnight Madness opener "All Cheerleaders Die. He also directed both "Headspace" and "Offspring" while producing through Modernciné. Robert Tonino Former producer, Tonino worked on all Modernciné pictures from the company's inception in 2002. With an LLM from the University of Amsterdam and an MBA from Columbia University, his experience was invaluable in helping manage the constant obstacles to keep the business afloat. Before his work with Modernciné, he first worked as investment banker for five years with Morgan Grenfell in London. He then worked in financial management with Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OPC) in various functions, lastly as CFO and Vice President Finance of the International Interore Division.
