Modern Pilates Information

At the Modern Pilates Studio in St Leonards, on Sydney's North Shore, we provide a modified version of the traditional Pilates Method. Our approach was developed by our Director, Penny Latey, and is based on a thorough understanding of exercise science and current research into movement ability and injury. Anyone of any level of experience can benefit from this approach - from the average person seeking to improve their strength and fitness, to someone recovering from a severe injury. Here we are retraining the body, not just repeating exercises. We specialise in therapeutic Pilates, and are extremely experienced in providing individually designed programmes for students who suffer from serious muskuloskeletal problems, chronic pain, problems with posture and dysfunctional feet. This includes anyone from the elite athlete or dancer to the older client with bunions, from ages 10 to 90. As well as specialist help for specific problems we also run regular mat classes for those without injuries. Mat classes are suitable whether you're just starting out with Pilates or are already an experienced student looking for a new studio. All our instructors here at Modern Pilates are trained and supervised by Penny Latey, an additional drawcard for experienced students. If you are interested in learning more about Penny Latey's Modern Pilates but cannot attend the studio in person, Allen & Unwin have published her step-by-step book which can be easily ordered online.
