The Royal Bath & West of England Society was formed in 1777 to promote and encourage agriculture, manufacture, commerce and arts & rural crafts for education and knowledge transfer. These founding principals are as true today as then with The Society leading and supporting a range of charitable activities across the West of England. The famous three-day agricultural show has called The Bath & West Showground in the heart of rural Somerset home for the last 50 years. Across a site of over 240 acres in sight of the majestic mendips, The Showground is an exceptional destination for over a million people a year; a unique, inspiring venue that plays host to a diverse range of third party indoor and outdoor events. Proudly at the heart of Yorkshire’s farming, food and countryside, now and forever: the Yorkshire Agricultural Society was founded in 1837 and organisers the Great Yorkshire Show. Today, as a registered charity, we support and promote agriculture and rural industries across Yorkshire and the North of England. Our offices are at the award-winning Regional Agricultural Centre, in Harrogate, which also includes Fodder - Great Yorkshire Food Hall (food shop and cafe). We hold events for farmers to promote knowledge exchange, topical debate and to bring the agricultural community together. We also offer activities for school children to inspire the next generation about farming, food and the countryside.
