Metroweb Information

Metroweb is a neutral passive infrastructure operator, its mission is to deploy fiber optics access networks (ducts and cables) in the major metro areas. Metroweb is based in Milano and represents a model of excellence within the network infrastructures market, able to develop a state-of-the-art digital network for ultra-broadband and thus offering a much faster data transmission as well as a stable and efficient access to Internet services to all businesses, citizens and the public administration in the capital of Lombardy. With around 375,000 km of fiber installed, Metroweb owns the most extensive metropolitan fiber optic network in Europe. Further deployments are in progress. Founded in 1997, today Metroweb is controlled by Metroweb Italia (87,7%). Fastweb is Metroweb’s main customer, but Metroweb also serves Telecom Italia, Wind, Vodafone and other Service Providers in Milano. Thanks to the Metroweb fiber network, Fastweb serves about 200,000 customers through FTTH technology since early 2000s.
