At Mentel, we believe financial return does not need to be sacrificed when pursuing social impact and sustainable development. We thus aim to marry private incentive and public good to empower impact entrepreneurs while appropriately rewarding supportive private capital. We sift investments through our framework and then monitor the social impact and financial performance of selected investments. We require board participation in companies we invest in. Our board participation includes mentoring and networking opportunities for our companies. We require companies to measure their social impact so that they can report that information in a clear and transparent manner. We plan to implement social return on investment metrics for measuring the extra-financial value (i.e., environmental and social value) of investments and report those to our investors.
