SoundTraxx has been designing and manufacturing the latest in state-of-the-art sound systems for the discriminating model railroader since 1990. Our products have evolved from our first offering of the Hyperlight lighting system to a wide range of decoders and accessories, as well as a surround sound system. In addition to designing and manufacturing these items in Durango, CO, we record and engineer sounds directly from the prototype. In 2004, we launched Blackstone Models as a division of SoundTraxx to develop our own line of ready-to-run HOn3 models and accessories.
Now a leader in asset tracking and recovery, Mtrack started in Europe in 1998 and here in South Africa in 2003. Providing world-class products, and a complete tracking and asset recovery service, our quality and efficiency of delivery is second-to-none.

Over the years, founder, Ian Black, assembled a team of dedicated instrument specialists with a passion for teaching kids and adults. Ian's musical journey began on the drums in 1996 before he picked up the bass guitar and started gigging a few short years later. After the launch in 2001, Urban Beat quickly became one of the fastest growing contemporary music schools in Cape Town. Over the years that followed, having held teaching posts at many schools, including: Settlers High, Edgemead High, Camps Bay Primary, Melkbosstrand Private, Blouberg International, Parklands College, and more; as well as maintaining his private tuition and clinic schedules, Ian has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience which has contributed towards him becoming a well-trusted and respected drum teacher and leader in his field. Throughout his career, Ian has filled positions of either drummer or bassist for a variety of bands, both on stage and in studio and is no stranger to many live music venues in and outside of Cape Town. Nowadays, Ian and his team can be found teaching students at either the Parklands or Bothasig studios, as well as various well known private and government schools across the Mother City. Currently, he is performing on Bass and Vocals with Chapter Three, a popular cover band (a link can be found in the menu above). Great pride is taken in the calibre of musicians that Urban Beat produces, and among other things, this is due to the exceptional quality of the instructors on the team. All our instructors are professionally trained in their specific area of expertise and are also working musicians, practicing what they preach on a regular basis in various areas of the music industry. Enrolling for lessons at the Urban Beat Music School means having access to a wealth of knowledge and experience just waiting to be passed down from us - to YOU...!
