Masarang Foundation Information

At the Masarang Foundation, we seek to find solutions for the most urgent global problems of our time: deforestation, biodiversity loss, climate change, poverty and underdevelopment. Founded by Dr Willie Smits in 2001, the Foundation's core mission is to preserve nature through the empowerment of local people. This mission is achieved via multiple initiatives which include; reforestation, animal conservation and energy projects along with educational, cultural and alternative income stream programmes for the local people. Whilst the activities of Masarang may take place in Indonesia the impact of their actions are felt globally.
