Marden Information

At Marden Primary School our curriculum has been developed using a cross-curricular approach to teaching and learning. It is our belief that in engaging children in topics that are exciting and relevant, they become active and effective learners in order to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding. Our aim is that both children and staff aspire to be the best that they can be through an effective and reflective teaching and learning environment. A brief overview of the curriculum for each phase can be found via the links below. With the exception of the Early Years Foundation Stage class, topics run on a 2-year rolling cycle because there are two year groups within each phase. This ensures curriculum coverage for all children on their journey through each phase. More detailed curriculum information can be found via the phase pages. In Early Years we use 'Jolly Phonics' to teach the children their letter sounds. In KS1, the national document 'Letters and Sounds' is used. Further up the school a scheme called 'No Nonsense Spelling' is used to introduce children to spelling patterns and rules.
