From its early beginnings, LYSI’s operations have been based on the production of cod liver oil. The company has followed the evolution almost from the time when fish oil was used for lamps, to when it became the source of vitamins A and D, and finally to the discovery of the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. Intensive research activities Throughout the years LYSI has initiated and encouraged more and more intensive research and has frequently surpassed the authorities in the research process. LYSI was the only company of its kind that systematically checked if “foreign objects” were evident in fish liver. The company leads the way in omega-3 research and collaborates with research bodies worldwide. Focusing on the QA system To ensure that its products are of excellent quality, LYSI practices intensive research and development. Combined with a strong QA system and backed up by the in-house laboratory, the new state-of-the-art processing plant (inaugurated in 2005) delivers products that are second to none when it comes to quality. In 2007 the factory was approved by the Icelandic Medicines Control Agency (IMCA) to be fully GMP (API) licensed. The company’s products include cod liver oil, omega-3 fish oil, salmon oil, tuna oil, shark liver oil, capelin oil, squalene and various fish meal products.
