Linkedinlocal is an international social movement started by one Linkedin user, Anna McAfee, who wanted to connect in-person with other Linkedin users. So she posted an offer on Linkedin if anyone close to her would like to meet up. Little did she know it would take off and spread like wildfire, later becoming a meetup experience that grew to 650 cities in 90 countries in 22 months. The idea behind Linkedinlocal is simple: a global community created by the users of LinkedIn designed to take online relationships offline to get to know the person behind the profile. Linkedinlocal is not affiliated nor sponsored by Linkedin company. All organizers are volunteers and the meetups are all organized locally.
