Lignor was born from a vision. To produce a sustainable engineered wood product that would help to do more from less. It started with two determined men who worked tirelessly to achieve the seemingly impossible. Producing quality stranded timber from Australia’s abundant and underused Eucalyptus. Inspired by their discovery, they developed a patented CLST® (Cross Laminated Strand Timber) which can be made from soft or hardwoods commonly found world-wide and outperform its competitors. Today, the Lignor team is dedicated to engineering wood products that are superior in performance using faster growing accredited sustainable tree crops to store carbon long term, help protect the environment and abate climate change. Cross Laminated Strand Timber or CLST®, which can be made from any softwood or hardwood is the hero product in the Lignor portfolio. The global market for Generation 1 CLT is currently estimated at more than two million m³ per annum with a CAGR of over 10%. Replacing traditional urban structures built from concrete and steel is now seen as critical to mitigating climate change. One of the key challenges which will constrain the continued growth of standard CLT is the availability and cost of sawn timber. According to the World Bank, the demand for timber demand will quadruple by the year 2050, but great uncertainty surrounds where all the additional wood will come from. Lignor's patented stranding technology addresses this need by using widely available pulp logs to make high-performance products at a competitive priced point and with multiple applications, including multi-floor buildings, offsite prefab housing systems for walls, floors and roofs and truck and container flooring.
