The practice was founded in January 1986 by the current principal, Peter Murphy, who qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979, and was granted fellowship of the Institute in 1995. For the first twenty one years the firm was based in Swinton, before moving to its new home in Bolton in February 2007. Despite the continued growth of the practice, it has always been our aim to keep the firm "small and friendly ". Throughout the whole period in which the firm has been in existence, we have only employed a total of four staff, one of whom is still with us today. Having such a settled workforce has fostered a good relationship with our clients, who know from year to year who will be dealing with their affairs. We like to think that this sets us apart from many larger firms, where the constant turnover of staff fails to provide the continuity which our clients tell us is of such importance to them. At Murphy & Company we regard all our clients as being of equal value to the practice, whether they are sole traders turning over only a few thousand pounds per year, or corporate clients with an annual turnover in the millions. We strive to give all our clients the same level of service.

Johnson Partners is an established, independent freight forwarder, providing a wide variety of clients with truly global best value transport solutions. Established in 2004 we set out with a goal to provide a personal, professional and competent Freight Forwarding service. By looking after all shipping and forwarding requirements, we allow clients to focus on their core business. Whether you work for a multinational, or are a business owner with limited international shipping experience, we will work alongside you to provide piece of mind and take care of all forwarding arrangements, holding your hand through each step of the shipping process, and tracking progress to prevent any costly delays, our clients trust us to take care of their valuable cargo. As well as general freight forwarding, we have an expertise in handling out of gauge shipments and abnormal loads. We also specialise in Project Forwarding working alongside clients from planning stages through to completion. We check each collection and delivery to pre-empt any potential problems and take action there and then to avoid delays and unnecessary charges. We don’t adopt a call centre customer service approach – you will be allocated a project manager who will provide advice and communication whenever you need it.
