Founded in 1980, Urban Resource Institute (URI) offers innovative client-centered services to help transform the lives of domestic violence survivors and homeless families, with a focus on communities of color and other vulnerable populations. We have deepened our impact and become the largest provider of domestic violence services in the nation.

Our mission is to end the cycle of youth homelessness. We do this every day in cities across America, one youth at a time. Our volunteers and staff are here to empower homeless and at-risk youth toward lifelong personal growth, and to create in these youth a sincere belief in themselves through open, straightforward counseling, mentoring, and life-skills training. The National Alliance to End Homelessness is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to end homelessness in the United States. We use research and data to find solutions to homelessness; we work with federal and local partners to create a solid base of policy and resources that support those solutions; and then we help communities implement them. Our strength is that we are an outcome-driven organization. Starting with our name and continuing with how we choose the work we do, allocate staff time, and use our resources, we focus on one thing: ending homelessness. The Homelessness Research Institute at the National Alliance to End Homelessness works to end homelessness by building and disseminating knowledge that drives policy change.
