KUNSTRAUM works on designing, creating, implementing and managing physical spaces for visual artists. In our collaborative process, we integrate artists, architects and economists. The results are vibrant spaces that achieve community and drive creativity. The product unfolds as a service to the artist that emphasizes the necessity of a collective effort to grow careers and conduct artistic research. The artist studio is more than an envelope for creation, it is to become an active part of its outreach. KUNSTRAUM invites professional artists with formal or other education in the fields of visual art, performance art, new media art, painting, sculpture and drawing. Based in Brooklyn, serving the art community in New York City, Kunstraum has the potential of attracting national and international artist in need of short or long- term space. The rented spaces are comfortable, renovated, clean, well heated and preserve a highly individual character. Instead of aisles lined in a Kafkaesque prison structure, KUNSTRAUM decided on the establishment of a community oriented, shared environment with clear division and definition of the physical space to maintain the spirit of it’s architecture and emotional impact. KUNSTRAUM creates community, develops artistic careers, promotes research and provides ideal physical spaces for art creation. It’s objective is to learn and alter shortcomings and blockages for artists to engage in professional work, dialogue and conversation. We intend to return lost responsibilities and important tools to the founder, the artist. KUNSTRAUM seeks to define a program through its vital inhabitants, individualistic design, open-heart mindset, fast growth, flexibility and effectiveness in direct conversation. By interviewing of the artists, their needs and their wishes will direct the growth of the program. The richness lies in the accumulation of community. KUNSTRAUM extracts from that beautiful nature, visualizes and unveils its potential.
