I have always been proud of my heritage and wanted show it off, not just at parties or on special occasions, I wanted people to know I was African and proud EVERYDAY. I created KY out of the need for cultural representation myself and other youth in the UK and diaspora. Kiwi&Yam aims to be the home away from home, a safe place and educator for those wanting to learn more about the continent, erasing appropriation and breeding appreciation for our culture. KY is not just a clothing line, it's a voice for the streets, confronting two of the most pressing issues in today's society, inclusivity and sustainability. We create clothing that reflects the culture. It is heavily influenced by Nigeria , and uses unique printed fabric such as Ankara and Kente in its designs. It uses pop culture, nostalgic and trending puns to create graphic t-shirts/hoodies. KY also hosts events to showcase the culture, bringing together music, arts and fashion. As we are an African-centred clothing line that targets the diaspora worldwide, we feel that it's important to give back to the country that inspires us the most, Nigeria. Most of our ready to wear garments are made in Lagos, with our prints and other pieces made in London. We cater to both men and women and sizes range from XS-XXL (size 6 -18). YO U R S T O R Y
