KA Platform Information

KAPlatform is an architecture and design practice working across industrial, residential, workplace and civic projects. We approach each project by identifying the forces that should shape it: programme, context, structure, climate, movement and use. Architectural form is then allowed to emerge from their relationship. We understand architecture as a discipline of translation—giving material form to forces that are, in themselves, immaterial. This translation develops through negotiation between what a site already carries and what a project asks of it, until nothing in the result is arbitrary. Precision, in this sense, is not simply a technical virtue. It is a way of ensuring that every decision can be traced back to the condition that demanded it. Founded in 2010, KAPlatform is led by founding partner Kerem C. Akın and partner Bengisu Topanoğlu. The practice works across Türkiye, Switzerland and the United States, with a presence in Zürich, Istanbul and Bursa. Selected recognition includes the O2 & O3 Residences in the Türkiye Architecture Yearbook 2024 and the BZJ Textile Factory’s A’ Design Award in 2021. Explore our work at www.kaplatform.ch.
