Jolly Red Information

Jolly Red is a vibrant, modern tapestry company, based in converted dairy buildings in Somerset in the South West of England. Jolly Red is run by designer Kelly Fletcher who set the company up in 1993, shortly after her graduation from the Royal College of Art in London. Having trained as a tapestry weaver, Kelly worked on many wool-based commissions, including one to create a needlepoint design for Ehrman Tapestry. Noticing the absence of any colourful kits in the UK's shops at that time, Kelly set about creating a small range of kits under the banner of Jolly Red. Since those early days of six designs Jolly Red has grown considerably, and in 2016 has over 100 designs across its tapestry range. Kelly still creates all of the tapestry designs herself, working in a very low-tech 'pencil and paper kind of a way'. We are delighted that, wherever you are in the world, you can see Jolly Red's designs thanks to the internet, a high-tech phenomenom with which we are (very) slowly getting to grips. Visitors are very welcome at our Somerset workshop, but please do phone first in case we're surrounded by boxes. We'd hate you to have a wasted journey.
