איגוד ההתפלה בישראל הוקם בשנת 1998 מתוך מטרה לקדם את נושא ההתפלה בארץ ובעולם. ענף ההתפלה הנו מרכיב עיקרי בחוסן הלאומי של מדינת ישראל, והאיגוד פועל לקידום ופיתוח טכנולוגיות התפלה ומתן פיתרונות לאתגרים סביבתיים ורגולטוריים, ללא כל כוונת רווח או אינטרס עיסקי. לשם כך, האיגוד מהווה בית לכלל הסקטורים הרלוונטיים בתחום - מאוניברסיטאות ומכוני מחקר, גופי תעשייה, מפעלי התפלה וטיפול במים, לרשויות ציבוריות ומשרדי ממשלה - ועוסק בהסברה ציבורית ופעילות תקשותרתית על מנת להנגיש לכלל הציבור מידע הנוגע להיבטים הסביבתיים והכלכליים של עולם ההתפלה. The Israeli Desalination society was established in 1998 with the aim of promoting the issue of desalination in Israel and around the world. The desalination industry is a major component of the national resilience of the State of Israel, and the association works to promote and develop desalination technologies and provide solutions to environmental and regulatory challenges, without any profit or business interest. To this end, the association is home to all relevant sectors in the field - from universities and research institutes, industrial bodies, desalination plants and water treatment, to public authorities and government ministries - and engages in public information and media activities to make the environmental and economic aspects of the desalination world accessible to the general public.
