Interplay started life as a summer play project in 1987 and has grown steadily to become a year round provider of inclusive play and leisure for the counties of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. We are committed to providing equality of play and leisure for young people with additional needs. We provide services for children and young people aged 2-25 who find it difficult to access the same mainstream play, leisure and social activities as their peers. For children that are in segregated education, play, leisure and social activities provide a very useful medium to allow children and young people to be able to learn social and independence skills, gain confidence and build self-esteem and emotional resilience. We work with children at all levels from profound and multiple disability, learning disabilities, physical impairments, sensory impairments, autism, adhd and challenging behaviour - our main criteria is that without additional support these young people would not be able to gain access to play and leisure opportunities. Interplay aims to support these young people to access activities within their local community, to participate in existing play and leisure opportunities and support the community in accepting that young people with additional needs have a right to inclusive provision. As well as providing our own specialist services. We run weekly term time play provision, youth clubs, summer schemes and residentials. Interplay aims to ensure that the standard of play and leisure provision is exemplary, particularly in projects or activities that are organised by Interplay. To do this, Interplay promotes best practice in recruitment, employment, training, supervision and monitoring of all it’s workers.
