Leasing railcars under operating leases provides several advantages to lessees such as not having to carry the related railcar values as a balance sheet item, flexibility in increasing or decreasing railcar fleet size and, for full service lessees, reduction or elimination of the management of railcars, elimination of the monitoring of regulatory requirements and reduction of administrative costs.
