INCPEN is a non-profit, research-based organisation established in 1974 dedicated to: analysing the environmental and social effects of packaging creating a better understanding of the role of packaging minimising the environmental impact of packaging INCPEN draws together an influential group of companies who share a vision of the future where all production, distribution and consumption are sustainable. Our members are international and British companies involved in all aspects of the packaging chain - from raw material suppliers to packaging manufacturers, branded goods producers and retailers. This cross-sectoral make-up allows us to provide an impartial overview of packaging. We coordinate a network of Trade Associations whose members operate throughout the supply chain. We pride ourselves on taking an evidence-based, holistic approach to environmental and social impacts of packaging. We use the knowledge from our research to help ensure that public policy on packaging makes a positive contribution to sustainability. Our work also involves encouraging companies to continuously improve packaging and explaining to the world at large the social contribution packaging makes to modern lifestyles.
