DrugAbuse Sciences is the first pharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of a range of medicinal products designed to treat states of drugs and alcohol addiction. Doctor Philippe Pouletty, a "serial-entrepreneur", set up DrugAbuse Sciences in 1994, on the strength of his success with his first company, SangStat Medical Corporation, specialising in processes for improving organ grafts. SangStat Medical Corporation is now listed on the NASDAQ in the USA. In the USA and in Europe, there are now over 30 million people in a state of addiction, of which 22 million are alcoholics, 6.3 million cocaine addicts and 2 million heroin addicts. About 7 million of them start a treatment every year, but only 1.8 see it through to the end. This failure rate can be explained by the difficulties of gaining access to treatment, the strict assiduity demanded and the cost. The products of DrugAbuse Sciences provide a solution to overcome these three hurdles and facilitate the physical and psychological tolerance to treatment.
