Since 1996, Horsepower Electric, Inc. has been the contractor for the Street Lighting Pilot Program for Miami-Dade County. Using the PROACTIVE LIGHTING PROGRAM (PLP) for this pilot program, Horsepower Electric has achieved a significant increase in the uptime of all luminaries providing up to 99% efficiency. The PLP program has eliminated a 300 poles three year backlog of pole knockdowns. Today knockdowns are replaced on a daily basis. The PLP approach has been so successful, that other agencies such as Broward County and Florida Department of Transportation have solicited and implemented the PLP.
