Hoops 4 Hope Information

Hoops 4 Hope was started by three family members Kate Brunk, Jennifer Dehan and John Dehan who decided they were ready to make a difference in finding a cure for all cancers. Over the years, each of us had participated in various initiatives supporting many worthy causes. We wanted to do something bigger, something that generates a broader awareness of the impact cancer has on families. We felt as a collective, we could contribute more; thus, Hoops 4 Hope was born. While there are a number of foundations and events that target a specfic form of cancer, we found that we had friends, family and co-workers all dealing with different forms of the disease. We believe it's important to attack all forms of cancer and dedicate our tournaments to making that happen. We believe Hoops 4 Hope is a unique way to bring the community together and participate in an event that is not only fun but, a way to dedicate a significant contribution to the American Cancer Society. The Hoops 4 Hope tournaments are typically open to 4th-8th grade boy and girl students and High School boy and girl student athletes looking for either a competitive or recreational tournament that pledges 100% of net proceeds to the American Cancer Society. Our goal is to gain the commitment of up to 100 teams for each tournament event to push us closer to our goal of raising significant funds for supporting fighters, survivors, loved ones and finding a cure for all cancers. This 2010 tournament season is dedicated to family, loved ones and old friends who passed away in 2009 and those who continue their fight into 2010. To date, Hoops 4 Hope has donated over $35,000 with matching donations.
