HIKE for Mental Health Information

At HIKE for Mental Health, we are committed to contributing 100% of funds received from hikes to our mission causes. In fulfillment of our mission to prevent and alleviate the pain caused by mental illness, we designated the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation as our primary beneficiary in 2012 and therefore directed $6,187.20 (80% of the funds raised) to that outstanding organization. The other 20% of the funds, or $1,546.80, went to the the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference to support maintenance and preservation of wilderness trails. How can 100% of hike donations go to our mission causes? For 2011 and 2012, HIKE for Mental Health's start-up and operational funding was provided by its founders. While we hope to find some business sponsors to help defray the administrative costs of the organization, those costs continue to be covered by on-going founder donations, partially offset by receipts from HIKE for Mental Health shirts and other give-aways.
