We’re rethinking everything. Starting with food.
Using safe, proven fermentation methods we make animal-free whey protein from microflora – not cows – to make dairy that’s identical to traditional milk. The production of our whey protein emits up to 97% less greenhouse gas emissions, uses up to 99% less blue water, and uses up to 60% less nonrenewable energy, compared to the production of protein found in traditional milk.
Our protein comes in a variety of applications including cream cheese, barista milk, ice cream, protein powder, egg replacer, bakery mix, confectionery, and gelato.
Some of our partners in-market include Mars, Nestlé, Natreve, Brave Robot, Myprotein, Strive Nutrition, Nick's, Tomorrow Farms, Villa Dolce, Betterland, and more.
It’s dairy that’s better for everything.
Aleph Farms®, an Israel-based cellular agriculture company, enhances sustainability, food security and animal welfare by diversifying the supply and decentralizing the production of quality animal proteins and fats as a complement to sustainable methods of conventional animal agriculture.
Founded in 2017, the company unveiled the world’s first cultivated thin-cut beef steak in 2018, the world’s first cultivated ribeye steak in 2021, and cultivated collagen in 2022. Under its product brand, Aleph Cuts™, the company is launching its first product, the cultivated Petit Steak, grown from non-modified cells of a premium Black Angus cow.
For its contributions to climate leadership, including a net zero commitment made in 2020, it has received top accolades from the World Economic Forum and the United Nations.
In 2013, our Chief Scientific Officer Professor Mark Post unveiled the world’s first cultured meat hamburger to a packed press conference in London. The burger was harvested directly from cow cells, rather than raising and slaughtering a whole animal. It was the result of years of research at Maastricht University, and cost €250,000 to make. The effort was funded by Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google.
Our motivation was to find a new method to make real meat to feed our fast-growing population in a sustainable, healthy and animal-friendly way.
Following the success of the first hamburger, we created Mosa Meat to commercialise cultured meat (also known as clean meat, cultivated meat or cell-based meat) and bring it to plates everywhere.
In the past few years we’ve made significant scientific breakthroughs, and brought the price down considerably. We’re now focussed on scaling up the production process, and getting our first products to market.
