Herne Hill Harriers Information

Herne Hill Harriers was founded in 1889 and are based at Tooting Bec Track, Tooting Bec Road, London SW17 (Tel: 0208 871 7171) see www.runtrackdir.com/uk/london(tb).htm. The cross-country races during the winter are held in Brockwell Park, London SE23. We pride ourselves on being a family club and cater for all standards and ages from 10 upwards. We offer coaching, training and competitions in all track & field events, road, cross-country, indoor athletics & sports hall. We extend a warm welcome to all new members regardless of ability or age. We can currently boast a European medalist in our active membership as well as other members who pride themselves on competing for 'quantity' rather than 'quality'. Our men's track & field team compete in the British Athletics League (after winning the Southern League in 2003) and the women in Southern League. The combined team competes in the Gold & Jubilee Cup. For both boys & girls under 17's, under 15's and under 13's there is the National Young Athletes League. For under 15's and under 13's the Thameside League offers alternative competition against more local opposition. Herne Hill Harrier's distinctive red & black hoped vests are also seen at a wide variety of Cross Country, Road Running, Indoor and Sports hall events including all the major national, regional and county championships and local leagues for men and women, boys and girls - and veterans. There are alternative connections with athletics for athletes of all abilities. We have an active social section with both formal and organized events and the more informal 'get togethers'. Herne Hill Harriers has a thriving and lively young athletes section and has fostered excellent relationships with local school that has developed the athletics talent of many a young athlete on their way to achieving their ambitions and aspirations.
