Greenis timber Sustainable Forestry Growing Plantations By growing sustainable plantation teak, we are helping to save existing rainforests from unsustainable forestry pracatices and restoring previously deforested land into something like its original and natural biome. This, in turn, benefits the environ-ment as teak has one of the highest sequestration rates. In conclusion, teak products are not only low risk and highly profitable, but also environmentally friendly as well as ethical. 01 Nursery Seeds are collected between April and August, then germinated and planted in nurseries. After 4 to 6 weeks the seeds will have sprouted and grown to approximately 20cm high. At this point, they are ready to be moved to the cultivation beds. 02 Cultivation Beds The cultivation beds are in the open air and in direct sunlight. This enables the young seedlings to harden, which produces a much stronger seedling. At this stage, the seedlings need to be watered 3 to 4 times a day. After 8 to 10 weeks they are ready to be moved to the plantation. 03 Plantation The best time of year to plant the seedlings is during the rainy period - November through to December. We will ensure that the seeds are correctly aligned to maximise the amount of sunlight that they receive. 04 Harvesting Once the trees have reached 100-130cm‘s in circumference, they are cut down by our qualified team and transported to the mill.
