Global Aid Zimbabwe (GAZ) a part of Global Aid Missions (GAM) is a charity organization formed in Zimbabwe in 2007 as a result of a passion and desire to contribute to the plight of people living with the albinism condition. GAZ believes that everyone deserves equal opportunities to health, education, representation and life. It is against this background that its ethos is derived. OUR STORY When Esther graduated from Word to the World College in Denver Colorado, she returned to Africa to impact communities. Full of passion and desire to contribute to the marginalized people, Esther and her husband started a street kids feeding program using food from their kitchen. She served in this endeavor faithfully until there was a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe. At that point, she received medicals from a donor and while sorting these out for distribution, she discovered many boxes of sunscreen lotions that she had no need of. In that same week while driving home from her rounds, she met someone with the albinism condition begging for help. At that moment, she had a recollection of the sunscreen boxes in her garage. That was the point when supporting people with albinism was born. Esther soon realized that the need for sunscreen lotions was just one area of the many needs that people with the albinism conditions have. So, the project took off! As life would have it, this was preparation for what would be a calling, a lifetime reality and a personal experience. In 2009, one year later from the birth of the supporting people with the albinism condition, Esther and Fungai were blessed with a baby boy who had albinism. The reaction of the midwife and the doctors at first sight confirmed why God had birthed the desire to uplift the lives of people with the albinism condition a year before the birth of their own. Two years later another girl with the condition was received into their family. Global Aid Missions is therefore not a result of a brainstorming session but a calling to the entire strata of the life of people with the albinism condition from the day of birth through to maturity. We go beyond donating sunscreen lotions to providing healthcare, education, counseling, advocacy and protection. MISSION STATEMENT Making life a living experience VISION Touching and changing lives by promoting and providing aid through strategic partnerships aimed at health, education, counselling, advocacy and protecting people with the albinism condition. We work through: Hospitals and clinics International Organizations & Governments Foundations & Charitable organizations Communities Private Organizations and Faith based organizations OBJECTIVES 1. To provide medical supplies/equipment to feeder health centers & clinics in distress. 2. To provide health, education, counselling, and protection opportunities to people living with the albinism condition 3. To continually advocate for people with the albinism condition as well as bring awareness on the condition to all 4. To help by giving access to sunscreen lotions, spectacles/shades, hats and long sleeved shirts to people with the albinism condition VALUES Honesty and integrity – We are a Christian faith based organization, acknowledging one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit Transparency – Our dealings are open for audits as may be required by donors and government Involvement – We will do projects for the communities with the communities Love and Care – The disadvantaged are our core business and therefore our priority.
