ELEVATE foundation is a youth leadership and development Trust founded by YOUTH that seeks to create youth leadership programs to facilitate youth development in innovation, entrepreneurship and career development. The programs focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, career guidance, research, innovations and entrepreneurship in science. Zimbabwe is a developing country which has an increase in students graduating from tertiary institutes every year and an equal increase in unemployment. This fact has seen graduates especially those coming from rural areas and underprivileged setting, going back to poverty and failing to improve the livelihood of their communities. The transition of graduates into beggars as there are no jobs is slowly demotivating a lot of school children and lowering pass rates as they are not getting to see the benefits of being educated. It is at this point, today than at any time before that Zimbabweans needs to advocate strongly for the adoption of STEM education as this initiative is a sure human capital development strategy that underpins economic development of the nation considering that today’s change is driven by technology fostered by Scientific Research and development, The adoption of STEM education based curricular by the Ministry of Education accompanied by programs which encourage entrepreneurship and innovation will ensure that Zimbabwe remains competent and relevant. It is conjectured that the fastest growing industry and highest earning jobs in future will be in the STEM fields. According to Frey (2014), 60 percent of jobs in 10 years from now have not yet been created; and this can only be true to Zimbabwe if there is support towards the STEM approach in education especially considering the growing unemployment rates.
